In the recent
December 2009 'Callings' published for and by Genesys Hospital / Ascension
Health Care Industry , CEO Mark Taylor declares a New Mission statement:
“ as a Ministry
of Jesus ” Genesys Hospital in essence achieves church-like status in print.
This letter is a
Call to All other existing
Churches/congregations to give direction , guidance , and truthful
meaning to this great undertaking. When Jesus Christ shared time in his ministry
with the Apostles , were they co-workers or just expendable employees?
In past
Radiology management directed meetings we were Invited to Awareness ,
Spirituality , and encouraged to see where God is in all of this? I'm sure some
people are Wondering how this works.
President Betsy
Aderholdt in the INK issue November 12th 2008 states: “I'm very
thankful and proud to be part of such a compassionate organization that's
committed to doing its best to make sure our poor and vulnerable are cared for.”
(...yet in the Industrial strength business background of Ascension , Genesys
is creating poor and vulnerable employees.)
In the very
astute book 'Mistakes were Made (but not by
me)” why we justify foolish beliefs , Bad decisions , and Hurtful Acts by
Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson self justification, dissonance , and blind spots
are discussed. One interesting aspect is that: “...pain felt is always more
intense than pain inflicted...” Which is what Genesys / Ascension systematically
does to its employees. I really don't believe that Jesus Christ included this in
his repertoire but inclusive of God and the Universe he was driven by
LoveY
and not by organizational monetary incentives. ( ...maybe he was just a bad
manager in that sense and would have had to be let go.)
Instead of a
Genesy's Mission Story could this really be interpreted as Our Mission Spin? I
don't mean to be cynical but maybe this is just marketing of Christ because it
sounds good.
But anyway , in
the January 28th 2009 'Callings',
Mark Taylor has stated a Priority of
creating relationships with organized Labor to foster organizational excellence
, ~ *this implies fair, in good Faith , optimal employee considerations*.
( However , the billboard off the expressway exit at Genesys remains and states
history of facts otherwise:
“Labor
Relations Board charges Genesys with Destroying working lives of Good Union
Employees.”
As a measure of
checks and balance to unwieldy power and corporate dominance, with their
intention of creating an “Employer's Paradise on Earth” , your valued response ,
positive input , and suggestions toward viable solutions is very welcome and
appreciated. I'm sure Mark and Betsy want to hear from anyone and everyone ,
after all it is part of their ministry in practice. Hell , I work at what I do ,
why not them?

of the " Jesus Christ Ministry of Healing " that would be Great!...but
if not , just be Honest.

Genesys Hospital / Ascension , Grand Blanc , Michigan publishes and distributes
'Callings'.
The patient care model is called “Visionscape”. (
However , the words “Valued Employee” are never mentioned. ) This model could be
broadened to encompass a viable “Vision” toward HealthCare workers through out
Ascension , making long term foresighted “Security” a primary goal as well.
In this America of fearful , despondent ,
trepidations Ascension Health can boldly enact a Special “Dual Purpose”, and
Healing alleviation to aspects of daily endeavor. Going beyond Fiscal policy and
monetary bottom lines will Create New Potentials of Holism benefiting every
person involved regardless of position. Health aspects within the hospital
environment will balance and harmonize.
This would be good “Visionscape” 3D
enhancement...INNOVATION.
Some concerns and cautions within Ascension or any other large Organization
bring to mind “God in the Office” by Lake Lambert III ~USA Today ~ Monday ,
February 8th , 2010 ~ “...Spirituality
in the workplace may become a means to manipulate or control workers
...Spirituality can be an abusive tool to keep employees in line and discourage
dissent. More important, Spirituality cannot maintain its own dignity and
autonomy if it is subordinated to the Economic Laws of Supply and Demand.”
A BUSINESS needs to stay in the black but how much black?(...or “loaves and
fishes”... )
How do we avert increasing consolidated Authoritarian control ( *either
knowingly or unknowingly used*) that is mentioned by Barry C. Lynn in
'Cornered'?
To do this there has to be Flexibility to the $$bottom line$$ of always making
more and looking for more ways to take it. Compassion and Care has to be
considered to those affected , for true long range social Human benefit.
Creative responses allow Healthy differences that allow Humane growth in a
“Corporate Entity”.
( We can still have responsive, responsible
Individuals and freedoms with latitude.)
Even God didn't try to make everyone the same,
Obviously! What Fun would that be?

are serious issues between Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc,
Michigan and its healthcare workers that remain yet unresolved. Garbulinski
brings attention to these issues through his new Web site: 332versusascension.com
The site, sponsored by Greg's Universe Publishing / Th.Trkstar, presents the
issues from a worker's point of view. Garbulinski is a third shift ER Imaging
employee at Genesys. He has witnessed first-hand a struggle between the
hospital management and Teamsters 332 as they try to resolve issues and create a
better workplace for the employees. Garbulinski wishes to create awareness
through the Web site. He hopes the site will help bring a resolution of
conflict between Teamsters 332 and Genesys, which is a subsidiary of Ascension
Health, based in St. Louis, Missouri.
"Ascension Health /CEO /Management has received material and recent letters from
this website as well as the Union Teamsters 332 over the past two years to the
current date concerning Genesys chain of
events from July 2006 to February 11th 2010. A copy is available upon request

Ascension Health's CEO Mark Taylor
promised in the January 28th 2009 issue of Callings (the company's newsletter),
"A priority of creating relationships with organized labor to foster
organizational excellence." This
implies fair, in good faith, optimal employee considerations.
But unfortunately, those traveling southbound along I-75 at Holly Road near the
hospital still see in plain view a large billboard stating, "Labor Board Charges
Genesys with Destroying Working Lives of Good Union Employees." The billboard,
which was erected in January 2009, shouts for justice but yet the grim
circumstances remain unchanged for many employees.
There are current negotiations with an extended Federal Mediated deadline date
of March 17, 2010. The negotiations are between Genesys Regional Medical
Center, Ascension Health Headquarters and Teamsters Local Union 332.
Garbulinski and other employees simply ask that the not-for-profit organization
honor its own mission statement, declaring it to be a "a Ministry of Jesus."
Even the company's own president, Betsy Aderholdt, stated in the November 12th
2008 issue of INK, "I'm very thankful and proud to be part of such a
compassionate organization that's committed to doing its best to make sure our
poor and vulnerable are cared for."
Teamsters 332 and employees plead with Genesys and Ascension to honor these
statements by also caring for their employees in a compassionate manner.

Back to Earth...the previous message was a Radiology staff meeting on October 16th
2008 at Genesys Hospital / Grand Blanc , Michigan.
This is
the prelude to the “fishbowl” of religious Townhalls and “huddles” that have
been going on to this date as we struggle to get a decent union contract with
Ascension Health. I swim in Radiology too and work 3rd shift
Emergency Imaging. It is pretty much impossible over two years of this
saturation to relate briefly , so let me just say this “holy moly ”.
Does the 1st
article of the Bill of Rights give some parameters on this? ...or is it just a
free for all? ( ...is Ascension Health working toward “religious Wal-Martism”?)
I know in
some low paying jobs around the United States managers encourage workers to turn
to God and go to church. In this case at Genesys Hospital / Grand Blanc ,
Michigan the chapel is transported to the workplace for thoughtful convenience.
Now , as a
visitor to Genesys Hospital / Grand Blanc , Michigan take an “elevator ride with
Jesus”. The prayer postings behind the plexiglass covers read: We believe the
healing power of Jesus is working through each one of us ~ as we lovingly care
for each person Body , Mind , and Soul ~ Genesys Staff & Volunteers
So if I
ride that elevator with Genesys CEO Mark Taylor will “he heal me” or “me heal
him”? ...Or are we both just riding the elevator for Fun or whatever? This could
become a very important metaphysical study at some point later on. ( ...our
group in Radiology can “huddle” on the megavator where there is plenty of room.)
Of course
I always have a solution to everything so as a practical remedy we get all the
heartless CEOS , corrupt Congress members , ...etc. together on the “elevator
with Jesus” until they feel the warmth and healing power.
Then we
let them out to do “jumping jacks with Jesus” in their matching glo t-shirts and
“Connection with Christ” baseball caps. (...at this point they are elated ,
inspired , seeing the light of Understanding and they take reasonable salary for
what they do or even just work for free.)
Then it's
nap time for all of them on flower designed little rugs , after Twinkies and
milk.
How hard
could it be?

Subject : Genesys Callings ~ Quote on cover with date: " a monthly publication for and about the people of Genesys ." mmmmmmm... Sounds benevolent enough but " people of Genesys " is possessive ( denoting ownership/property*) So I'm thinking to myself mmmmm...what?
In comparison 'Ascension' Health Care owns Genesys Hospital , so I Imagine they own this Magazine too and All of 'VisionScape' ...the Evil Plan to take over the World and place people into a submissive controlled Society with no voice in anything, whoa Sorry~ maybe not, I was thinking about something else for a moment. Anyway retract that thought to a reasonable degree and let's say that since Ascension owns Genesys and Genesys has "people of Genesys" * that there is some kind of connection and not necessarily a diabolical plan . It may only involve $$$Money$$$ , the root of all good and when properly used as a tool , the true implement of espoused Christian values of Integrity , Wisdom , Creativity and a better World.
Anyway not to get off on a Tangent, but I am also Greg 3rd shift ER Imaging at Genesys Hospital. Glad to meet you! (...I have worked 35 years on 3rd shift ...I do it but don't recommend it*) I also operate ***Greg's Universe*** Publishing . (* Good thing Ascension isn't over Greg's Universe otherwise I probably wouldn't have a job*) ...You know as I tell my lovely wife Diane and she says "yea yea sure sure" ( she also worked at Genesys and St. Joe's *Flint for 30 years , UNTIL but I'll say this kindly: she was "let go due to budget" cuts * ...on a Happy note she left proudly with an Excellent work record & accomplishments*~ she's a Good person and I'm lucky to be kinda getting to know her - we have a 25th Anniversary on July 16th ) ...as I tell Diane: " Alot of people think ***Greg's Universe***is a Glamorous job but It's just plain hard work...but I don't 'MIND' working hard- it's fun to me." My sister Kathy says I'm a nut but a good nut...an Ultimate compliment in my line of work! The stuff that encourages me and keeps me going for sure.
Yes! , that's what I really say.
But in short , getting back at it ...If you receive the Callings Magazine and you feel "people of Genesys" is obtrusive /invasive or whatever , you can just make a call telling them you don't want it. (...much like opting out of unsolicited annoying email~so there you go.) How did I ever get here? Who knows? Stop in now and then for a Visit ...More expression and thought is likely to follow.

Labor-market rules
have to begin with meaningful, enforceable
recognition of the right of workers to Organize,
starting in the United States….The first place we
need to start is public investment , which has
historically meant infrastructure. …energy
technology….energy conservation technologies…
The second big step
is to change our labor-market policies to encourage
high wage economy. That means National Healthcare
and a National Pension policy to restore adequate
retirement savings. It means rebuilding the
connection between productivity and wages , making
Workers’ Right to organize and bargain again, by
passing the EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT….These measures
have to be paired with Improvements in our Public
Schools at every level so that worker productivity
continues to increase….based in part on the United
States’ role as the provider of the Technologies at
the Heart of a Global Revolution in how we use
Energy, in part on the vast work that must be done
to retool our own infrastructure…
So the next
President will come into office facing a multitude
of challenges – a housing and credit –market driven
Recession , rising Energy prices , Global warming ,
a current account Deficit that is Spiraling out of
control , the War in Iraq , a collapsing Dollar $ ,
a rising China and India , long term Crisis in
Health Care and Retirement provision….The Challenge
is to Understand that there is a Choice, a different
Direction We can and must go in ….And Then , to Go
There.

took this Moment in Time to visit. Now that you’ve
pushed my “flashsplash” button through curiosity ,
interest, or the plain boredom of nothing else to
do, please play , have fun , and let’s get some work
done.
This is
actually the Web of Life and by natural Intuition
you have found it.
Not to get
off on a Tangent but with all the “Super delegate”
crapola going on you are now hereby appointed
“Universal Representatives” with all Inherent rights
therein. There are responsibilities so act
accordingly.
I believe you
are here because you have a personal sense of pride,
integrity, purpose and control your own Destiny.
Quite a feat with all the manipulation , machination
, and liar’s poker that is constantly pushed at us
in our daily life.
For some
reason , probably Greg’s logic , it reminds me of
the following poem.
When you

is the decline of the Roman American Empire from
within. I always thought we’d be going forward in

trough. What the heck , morph them to greedy B#s*?%ds
who use modern media to over saturate us with a more
refined OINK of communication.
…But anyway,
“Fruit Loops” ~ I just wanted to say that to
brighten it up from my depressing downward Spiral (…
a visual of that Big Pig Pen ) They need to choose
the “menulite” that is available. When they scam on
the content of the Founding Fathers and U.S.
Constitution in reference to “we the people” I do an
auto-translate to what it really means… “you the
people who say and do whatever we tell you to”. They
make up the endless hoops maze of Absurdity to jump
through. “Read my lips”(…if you could see me) as I
say the Federal Government is taking us to the
cleaners but none of the laundry equipment works ,
so it’s just Dirty laundry. As everyone knows
Shakespeare said “to be or not to be” (…also “one
Touch of Nature makes the whole World kin”). A
number of our so called leadership display “example
by de-fault” exemplifying what “not to be”. Do you
ever get the feeling that your life is being
assaulted by marauding pirates sent by hidden Mr.
Big in the background? The truth about George
Orwell’s 1980 is that it’s happening with hardly a
notice but we do have the Super Bowl Colosseum.
Pretty smooth huh? Lots of money at the top where
they know how to keep it, has gone a long long ways
since man’s History of Domination over other men.
Man , this is starting to sound bleak again so let
me pull a poem out of my pocket.
Our in common
History will always have humor , laughter , and a
smile. …Connections of touch and being touched.

Back at it
again , I’m thinking you’ve got to be leary of a
Government that would put “in God we trust” on the
money. Christ would have thrown them out of the
Temple too! It falls somewhere in the category of
usury and counterfeiting God’s name without the
Royalties for the #1 guy. God’s probably pretty
pissed. ( now God’s involved in a con of “we the
people” , poor guy it’s not easy being God on some
days ~ Good thing there’s an Eternity out there~ to
look at the sunny side) “Cold hard Cash” sounds so
unloving but really it’s just a tool. Is there a
better currency than this? PROBABLY.
Not to go off
on a Tangent but I’d rather talk about the real Web
of Life which coincidently reminds me of another
poem.
